Footage was obtained from the 8-meter Gemini North telescope on Maunakea by a camera used to monitor the sky for remote operations of the telescope. The dark plume is visible near the end of the sequence (at ~39 seconds), just before sunrise, the flashes prior to the eruption are lightning. The video was captured on the night of May 16-17 (HST) with a south-facing cloud camera.Video credit: Gemini Observatory/AURA/NSF#NSFScience
